Telemedicine or telehealth are similar concepts that define the use of telecommunication technologies to provide specialised medical services at a distance. The palliative care environment offers new opportunities to improve communication and support patients and their families at the end of life. However, there are ethical implications in the end-of-life context, mainly associated with the risks of neglecting patient privacy and confidentiality and issues related to the humanisation/dehumanisation of care.
